Pull up to a picnic table and dig in at Lee Harvey’s

Lee Harvey’s management is coy about where the name came from. But the owner is Seth Smith, so it ain’t named for him. Set in an old house in South Dallas, the bar-dining spot is a downscale place decorated with vintage beer signs. Most seating is at wood picnic tables in the front yard.

Here’s the beef: One of the best burgers in Dallas features a half-pound patty of really beefy-tasting meat. We also were enthralled with the mixed green salad with avocado and orange sections, toasted pecans and crisp jicama in a fruity dressing. Panini sandwiches are good, too.

This and that: There’s a good jukebox, a pool table and on Sunday “Dog Day Afternoons,” even your pooch is invited.
